pillion claims

The 2018 month of May has been mostly glorious so far; meaning it’s the season for bikers.

Plenty have been out on the roads since the weather turned warm and we’ve been blessed with a good few weeks of mostly sunny skies and +25-degree heat. This means it’s a time when all users of the road have to be more careful to make sure they look out for bikers to avoid causing an accident with a motorcyclist.

Drivers must stick to the usual practices of taking extra care on junctions, roundabouts and when pulling out from parked positions and driveways in particular.

Not that drivers need any more reason to make sure they look out for bikers as opposed to just other cars or larger vehicles, but biker numbers can increase in the summer months. This can increase the likelihood of a motorcycle accident occurring, and drivers taking the extra care that they should always do could be the difference between life and death for a rider.

When it’s a straightforward rear-end collision and a driver has some whiplash, people can be thankful that they have insurance to pay for the damage and the personal injury compensation claim. But, when it comes to a rider being knocked off a bike, the injuries can be far worse; and can be permanent. At that point, being thankful for insurance is not enough, as we’re possibly talking about changing someone’s life here.

There can be no complacency when it comes to looking out for bikers. It’s not about the fact that a rider can be eligible to make a claim for motorcycle accident compensation when it pales in comparison to the fact that anyone would much rather not be injured; especially permanently!

Drivers must watch out for biker at all times, and when it comes to the summer month and the season for bikers, it’s about seeing this in practice.
