Over 68K Suzuki motorcycles recalled because of stalling risk

Over 68,000 motorbikes are being recalled in the United States by bike manufacturing giant Suzuki due to a failing battery charging system which causes the bikes to stall.

The Suzuki recall will affect models produced between 2008 and 2012.

US safety regulators have documented that the problem has been traced to a circuit board in the bike’s charging system. Suzuki will notify owners by early March whose bikes are affected to contact their nearest dealer and have the charging system regulator-rectifier replaced at no cost to the owner.

The Suzuki recall covers the following affected models:

  • 2008 to 2012 AN400, AN400A, DL1000 and GSX1300R motorcycles
  • 2008 to 2009 GSF1250S and GSF1250SA motorcycles
  • 2008 GSX1300BK and GSX1300BKA motorcycles
  • 2008 to 2010 GSX650F, GSX-R600, GSX-R750, VLR1800, VLR1800T motorcycles
  • 2009 to 2010 SFV650 and VZ1500 motorcycles

The Suzuki recall is so far contained to bikes sold within the US but there have been more than 200 complaints from other countries. We will keep UK Suzuki bike owners updated as this story develops.
